Welcome and thank you for visiting our web site

Kihiu International Ministries is a Christian non-profit mission agency that seeks to address the total needs of people—spiritual, social, economic, physical, emotional, etc—through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have become a bridge of hope between our partners abroad and our Kenyan community.

As a Christian non-profit agency, we recognize that true holistic transformation can only occur when Jesus Christ is at the center of human community; therefore, we boldly proclaim the “whole gospel for the whole world.”

Our primary mission outreach continues to be the many orphans and vulnerable children within Kenya. The rapid increase of orphans in Kenya has been attributed to the many HIV/AIDS related deaths. These children have been left without their sole guardians and lack the basic necessities of life. In 2005, a Kenya Ministry of Health report stated that there were 1.6 million AIDS orphans in the country (about 6% of the 29 million people).

Our prayer and hope is that you will partner with us in this urgent mission outreach. You can become a prayer partner and we can send you regular updates on our Kenya mission. Your financial donations will also enable us to continue fulfilling our God-given mandate. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27).

Rev. Dr. Patrick Kihiu, PhD

Past and Present Ministry Experience

The Kihius were youth and young adults’ leaders within their local church in Kenya under Bishop Armstrong Cheggeh (during the late 1980s and early 1990s). They helped to disciple young people within their local church and also led in local evangelism initiatives.

The Kihius were ordained into gospel ministry through a non-denominational church in Georgia, USA, Rex World Outreach, under Pastors Paul and Nancy Glass (1997).

Patrick was a leader within Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA) - 1997 to 1999. This agency brings together Kenya Christians living within the United States and is involved in Christian ministry/ mission within the Kenyan-American cultural context.

While attending Asbury Seminary, the Kihius pastored a rural Kentucky church (Briary Union Church, Eubank, Kentucky) between 1998—2000. In 1999, they founded and registered their own Christian non-profit agency (Kihiu International Ministries, Inc).

Their mission objectives include:

  1. Establishing Christian ministry training and resource centers for Kenyan local churches. These centers will be Christ centered, locally based, and globally networked. They will be accessible to all local Kenyan Christians;

  2. Establishing Christian outreaches to orphans and vulnerable children. Long seasons of drought combined with the spread of HIV/AIDS have taken their toll on many local and urban communities in Kenya, leaving many children as orphans;

  3. Community Development Projects. The majority of the Kenyan people have little or no income. In many communities there is scarcity of pure water, food, and medicine. Many children cannot afford to pay for their High school education. Through community outreach centers the Kihius hope to empower the community by providing pure drinking water (boreholes); medical clinics; orphan feeding centers; High school sponsorships; vocational training; HIV/AIDS prevention programs; youth outreach programs; and partnering in other local community projects.

Resources Needed to Accomplish Goals

So far, the Kihius have established their first community outreach project in Rebecca’s home village - The Mwimutoni Center of Hope. The center currently caters for the following needs:

  1. Orphan feeding program (about 50 children);
  2. Community borehole (provides clean drinking water);
  3. Medical clinic (provides several medical camps during the year);
  4. Secondary school sponsorship (sponsors about 30 orphans and needy children through High school);
  5. College and vocational school sponsorship;
  6. Evangelism and discipleship (have continued to partner with local churches and offered bible study meetings at the Center of Hope).

Global partners are needed in the following areas:

  1. Establishing Christian resource and discipleship/missionary training centers.
  2. Establishing community vocational training centers.
  3. Establishing community medical centers.
  4. Establishing community water projects. Sponsoring orphans and needy children through High school.
  5. Feeding projects for orphans and vulnerable children in local communities.
  6. Supporting community micro-enterprise development programs.

In all the above goals, the Kihius plan to link the local, national, and global communities in sharing of gifts and resources. The Kihius desire that this connectional approach leads to mutual blessings among all partners involved.
